The greatest german poet of the twentieth century?

Oxford World Classics name Rilke as such. His breakthrough came when he published two volumes of New Poems in 1907 and 1908 after he moved to Paris where he worked for (and wrote on) the sculptor Auguste Rodin.

The pages have the original German on the left and English translation on the right.
