Rescued and rebound book. This edition was badly dog-eared and very shabby. It has undergone a near miraculous transformation with smooth marbled paper covers and Cambridge Paper Company endpapers with a cat design. The book is offered at a reduced price due to the misalignment of the endpapers due to the aforementioned distortion and a subtle blot to the title on the spine.

Tess of the d’Urbervilles: A Pure Woman was originally published in serial form in The Graphic in 1891 and as a single volume in 1892. The harrowing tale of Tess whose victimisation at the hands of men leads to her downfall. The book was badly mishapen and the curled spine still persuades the front cover to push forward unless it is correctly stored in a book case!
